Week of March 28, 2016  Dear parents, I can't believe the third nine weeks is over and we are starting on the last nine weeks of this school year. Time has flown by. Report cards will be going home on April 8.  We have the school spring carnival on April 15. We will begin our How We Organize Ourselves unit this week which ends with our Market Day.  Market Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27. We will need some parent volunteers that morning to help with set up.  If you are available in the morning any time between 7:30 and 10:30, could you let me know? Your help would be greatly appreciated.  A letter will be going home explaining what students will need to do at home to prepare for market day. Spring conferences will be held on the early release day May 4.  I will be sending home a letter explaining our spring conferences later in April.  Second grade spirit night is on May 17 at MOD pizza. Week of March 21-25, 2016 Dear Parents, Welcome back from spring break.  If your child is receiving principal's pride this time, don't forget it is Monday, March 21 at 8:00 in the cafeteria.  Notices were sent home in last week's Friday folder. March 25 is a school holiday.  We will be doing our Minecraft project to build our community starting Tuesday.  We will begin working at the 7:45 bell so we have time to finish our community. Watch for pictures on the blog. The end of the third nine weeks is on March 24 and report cards will be going home in the Friday folder on April 8. What is happening in the classroom: Science and social studies: We will be finishing our study of the human and geographic features that affect communities by creating a community in Minecraft.  On the STEAM day we used our city planning and engineering skills to plan out our community.  We are ready to create. Week of March 7, 2016 Dear Parents, What a fabulous music program we had on Thursday evening. The students did such a wonderful job and were so enthusiastic. It was so much fun to watch. A huge thank you to our Music teachers Ms. McKenna and Ms. Mary.  They are so dedicated to the students. Principal's pride will be Monday, March 21, 2016 at 8:00 in the cafeteria. Principal's pride notices went home in the Friday folders. If your child has not received Principal's pride they will in the final presentation which will by on Monday, May 23. March 11, 2016 will be our enrichment day.  It will be tied to STEAM which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.  It is always a fun learning day.
