Week of November 28, 2016 Dear Parents, Wow! What a fast and wonderful week it was in second grade. The field trip was amazing. It was a beautiful day to be outside.  We learned about food chains and looked for evidence of animals in a field. We learned about animal adaptations. We saw first-hand adaptations of a box turtle, corn snake, and alligator. We even had an opportunity to touch them. It was a wonderful way to actually experience some of the science we had been learning about. There are many reminders for when we return on Monday. I put a reminder note in the Friday folder that you can stick on your refrigerator. Reminders: When I come back to school on Monday, November 28 I need: My literacy library books.  (baggie books) A small rock for science. (Please don’t send grandpa’s favorite rock from his rock collection) Tom the Turkey cut out with your name on the back. My homework folder For a science lesson on Monday, student need to bring in a small rock.

Week of 11-14-16 Dear Parents, It has been a fast moving week this week. The cub choir sang at our Veterans' Day assembly today. What a wonderful job they did. We have a few exciting events coming up this week. Things are about to get messy in science on Monday. I have told the children to come in a shirt they don't mind getting messy. On Wednesday is our field trip. We will be leaving at 9:00 and returning by 2:00. Please remember to dress for the weather. Students should wear long pants and closed toed shoes. Please send their lunches in disposable containers. We will not have a place to store lunch boxes. We are having a storyteller come on Thursday morning. It is going to be a busy week. Week of November 7, 2016 Dear parents, Another wonderful week in second grade has gone by. They are going so fast. In your Friday folder you will find the report card. Please keep the report card and return the brown envelope. You will also find a field trip notice with permission forms. Please complete and return both permission forms. Please keep the top letter for your information. The field trip will be on Wednesday, November 16. We will leave school at 9:00 and return by 2:00. The field trip is run by trained LCRA volunteers. The students will take a nature walk with activities connected with the walk. The volunteers also lead a talk about a variety of animals and students will have a chance to see them as well. It is a wonderful field trip and it fits with our Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry very well. Spicewood will be having a Veteran's Day program on Friday morning. Second grade will be attending from 8:30 to 9:00 if you are interested in attending. In the classr
