week of 4-3-17 Dear parents, What a great week in second grade. In the Friday folder, you will find a letter about our market day that will be coming up on April 19. You will find your child's business plan attached.  Please keep both to refer to as your child produces their goods to sell at market day. You will also find a letter about the upcoming school carnival to be held on Friday, April 21 from 4-8 pm. Report cards will be going home in next week's Friday folder. In the classroom: science/social studies: We have been learning about producers and consumers, goods and services, and supply and demand. Students created a web on Google Drawing to show how they purchased goods or services. The web included who was the consumer and who was the producer. Students also worked on their business plan for market day. Next week, we will be working on the tricks of advertisement. math: We have been learning about good financial practices. week of 3-27-17 Dear Parents, I am so happy to have everyone back from spring break. I hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are having a great week this week. There will be some things to look for in the upcoming weeks in the Friday folder. Next week Friday (3-31) will have a letter about the upcoming market day event. The letter will explain all the details. Market day will be held Wednesday, April 19. April 5 is an early release day. April 14 will be a student and staff holiday. The spring carnival will be on April 21. Many things to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. In the classroom: science and social studies: We have been learning about how money is earned, spent, saved, and used for buying goods and services. Students had so many questions about money. They did a self-initiated project about money. The students created slideshows, and puppet shows, and google documents to share their learning. Week of 3-20-17 Dear Parents, Another wonderful week of second grade. We ended with a wonderful STEAM day on Friday. Next week is spring break. I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful week. Principal's Pride will be on Monday, March 20 at 8:00 in the cafeteria. If your child is receiving principal's pride, you will receive a letter in the Friday folder with the date and time. Baggie book turn in will be Monday, March 20. Please make sure to return the baggie books that day. Thank you. week of 3-6-17 Dear Parents, An amazing week in second grade. It was so much fun creating virtual and 3D communities. I am sure the students had a wonderful experience. This week is the music program in the evening. Students will need to report to school by 5:45 for the evening program on Wednesday, March 8. I hope to see you there. You child will come home on Friday with an interview. The interview is for our next unit of inquiry about work and how that helps to meet our needs and wants. The students are to ask you the questions and then write your responses. Please make this a conversation time. Thank you for your help at home. Please return to school by Friday, March 10.
