Week of 10-30-17 Dear Parents, It has been a very busy week in second grade. We had principal's pride on Monday followed by CogAT testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. We do not have the results back yet from the CogAT as soon as they are made available by the district we will get the results to you. Report cards will be going home on Friday, November 3. Mrs. Reeb has invited a storyteller for first and second grade on Wednesday, November 1. Shhh! Its a secret (until Tuesday). I will be giving everyone a no homework pass on Tuesday evening so that everyone can enjoy a safe and treat fill evening. Week of October 23, 2017 Dear parents, Another fun week in second grade. Next week is red ribbon week with many exciting things for the students.  We also have the testing taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday. A note was sent home last week in the Friday folder about the test. Principal's Pride is Monday at 8:00. If you child is receiving Principal's pride a letter was sent home last week in the Friday folder. If you are new to Spicewood, every child will receive the award at some point in the year. We have for ceremonies throughout the year usually close to the end of each nine week. Week of 10-16-17 Dear Parents, It was wonderful to share the student goals at our conferences this week. Thank you so much for attending. We had an amazing week in second grade this week with many exciting activities. Individual pictures were taken this week. You can still order picture online or turn in the envelope until Tuesday, October 17.  Principal's pride notes were sent home in the Friday folders. This afternoon, we had a presentation through Nepris from a conservationist. The presentation tied in with our unit of inquiry and the conservationist discussed how animals depend on their environment to survive. In the classroom: science and social studies: We have been learning about how matter is changed through physical changes and changes from thermal energy. We built structures and changed the matter to make something that would support a cotton ball. We also used thermal energy to melt our glacier. We made a time lapse video of the melting. week of October 9, 2017 Dear Parents, It has been another wonderful week in second grade. Please have a wonderful holiday on Monday and don't forget about student led conferences on Tuesday. Your child should come with you as they have goals and items to share with you as well. I can't wait to share our goals for the year. I emailed a picture of the schedule for Tuesday and also put a reminder note in your Friday folder. Please send back the literacy library books (the ones in the gallon baggie) on Wednesday. The books will be changed out and new ones will be sent home. Please don't forget to complete the homework folder and send it in on Wednesday.
