Week of November 2, 2015 Dear Parents, What a wonderful red ribbon week with super hero capes, shirts, and rain to end the week.  Spicewood will be celebrating Veteran's Day with an assembly on November 11.  If you have a family member that has served please complete the form in the efolder and return it as soon as possible.  Our field trip will be on November 10.  We will be leaving school shortly after 9:00 and returning to campus about 2:00.  I will send home a reminder letter in the Friday folder next week. Week of 10-26-15 Dear Parents, This week is red ribbon week.  Below are the special activities for the week.. Monday, October 26: RED-OUT Panther Day! (wear as much red as you can, including our new red Spicewood t-shirt) Tuesday, October 27 : Living Healthy, My Future is So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades! (wear sunglasses to school) Wednesday, October 28 : Tip Your Hat to a Healthy You! (wear a crazy hat to school) Thursday, October 29 : Turn Your Back to an Unhealthy Life! (wear your shirt backwards) Friday, October 30 : Be a Spicewood Super Hero, Pledging to Living Healthy! (wear a super hero  shirt  or  cape ;  NO COSTUMES ALLOWED We had a wonderful Principal's Pride this morning.  Look for more to come.   Please remember to return the homework folders, take home books, and library books on Tuesday.   In social studies/science: We will continue with our Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry. week of October 19, 2015 Dear parents, Another wonderful week in second grade.  I hope your families had a restful Columbus Day holiday. Thank you all the families that contributed a canned good fro our World Food Day. We watched a video today about how farmers contribute to our food supply and how important they are.  Fifth grade put on a wonderful music program for the whole school on Thursday.  Next Friday we are looking forward to an assembly about physics called the physics circus. I can't wait to see the physics in action.  Don't forget that the school auction is coming up November 13.  I will be there, and I hope to see you there.  Our field trip is coming up on November 10 and more details will be coming your way.  Our first Principal's Pride will be on Monday, October 26 at 8:00 in the cafeteria.  I sent notices in the Friday folder if your child is receiving an award this time.  There are three other times during the year.  Every child will be recognized. Week of October 12, 2015 Hi everyone, I can't believe it is already the middle of October.  Time flies when you are having fun.  This week we had picture day and you can still turn in picture money until Thursday.  There will be loads of things to remember to send back on Tuesday.  Please send library books, Lit library book bag, Friday folder, and homework folder. The first Principal's Pride will be on October 26 at 8:00 in the cafeteria. There will be three other dates throughout the year so that everyone is recognized. Students are recognized for showing one of the PYP learner profile attributes.  Five different children will be recognized each nine weeks.  I will be sending home invitations for the first five students in the Friday folder at the end of the week. Week of October 5, 2015 What another wonderful week in second grade. Thank you to all the parents that donated books from the book fair to our classroom. It is always great to have new books for our class. I am so glad so many of you could make it to our school cookout on Friday.  Thank you Leah's mother for donating a floor lamp to our class. A note is included in the Friday folder about the OLSAT testing that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Things to remember this week: Monday turn in Friday folders Tuesday Library day and homework folders are due Wednesday : National walk to school day.  We will meet at Mrs. Ready's house and leave promptly at 7:00 the address was included in the email I sent.
