Language Arts
Reading:
This week we will be exploring myths and legends by looking at the elements and main characters, then practice retelling.
Writing:
Writers will continue brainstorming ideas for small moments stories, practice telling partners the beginning, middle, and ending, then begin writing rough drafts. We will practice writing strong beginnings to “hook” the reader and begin revising to make sure writing sounds right. Mini lessons will focus in editing, revising, and adding feelings (emotions)
Math
Math
Students will participate in a Graham cracker three act task to provide students an engaging, real-world experience with the concept of multiplication. We will be wrapping up and assessing student’s knowledge of the multiplication/division unit
We will be introducing area and students will have the opportunity to compare different shapes to see which has the greatest/least amount of space (area) inside. They will practice making estimates of how many tiles are inside their rectangle, then measure to confirm/change their predictions
