  • The structure of patterns
  • The similarities and differences of structural characteristics

Language Arts

Reading:
We will be continuing our focus on fairy tales by comparing the similarities and differences of fairy tales from around the world.
We will introduce fables this week.  We will be looking for characteristics and elements of fables, as well as character traits, feelings, and motivations. We will practice retelling using our 5 fingers and identifying the morals.

Writing:
Writers will continue brainstorming ideas for small moments stories, practice telling partners the beginning, middle, and ending, then begin writing rough drafts.  We will practice writing

Math

Students will be using the partition (sharing) model of division to determine the number of objects in each share.
Students will be able to demonstrate that multiplication is the inverse of division  by relating the twos number facts for multiplication and division.
Students will also learn to use the quotation (grouping) model of division to arrange quantities into equal groups.

Problem solving continues to integrated daily into lessons.
