Dear parents,

What a marvelous week in second grade. Market day was a huge success. Thank you for helping the students work on their products at home.  Thank you to are parent volunteers that came and helped set up.  Carnival is Friday, April 21 from 4 to 8.  I hope to see you there. If you purchase wristband ahead, they will be in the Friday folder. If you have not purchased tickets you can still come and purchase them at the door.

In the classroom:

science/social studies:

We are had a wonderful time at market day. The students worked hard on their products. Students were surprised to learn that they had to pay taxes out of the money they earned. Students played the "Game of Life" after market day and used their money to pay for food, shelter, transportation, entertainment, and unexpected expenses. Students are completing the unit by creating something to show how the job they want in the future will meet their personal, financial and societal needs.
Next week, we will begin our unit about changes in transportation, recreation, and communication.
